Canadian Judicial Council

In the fall of 2018, The Chief Justice of Canada – the Right Honourable Beverley McLachlin – retired.
To commemorate her many contributions and accomplishments, a major gala was held in Ottawa, thus requiring a distinct brand identity and suite of creative assets to coincide.

Designed to honour her 18 year tenure as Chief Justice of Canada, the logo’s curved and winding lines mirror the many corridors of her career.
The monogram hints the Chief Justice’s affinity for the opera, while her initials in the middle indicate the central role she has played in Canada’s judicial system.

In addition to the logo, CT devised and executed a social media strategy to drive awareness about the gala, while being careful to remain politically unbiased.

Strengthened by the design of invitations, tickets, programs, and event signage, the gala closed out the Chief Justice’s time in office with well-deserved recognition and was attended by Justin Trudeau, two former prime ministers, and two former governor generals.
