Website Award from the Economic Developers Association of Canada
The Place to Be.
Located in the Regional Municipality of York, Vaughan is the fifth largest city in the Greater Toronto Area and the 17th largest in Canada. To assist Vaughan in its transition from a small suburban city to an ambitious and progressive urban centre, the City needed to update its family of brands — including its Economic and Cultural Development and Tourism departments, as well as the Enterprise Zone and Downtown Metropolitan Centre. Additionally, and to help stimulate economic activity, the design and development of a website was required.
To begin the project, CT conducted an extensive amount of stakeholder engagements, with the aim to uncover interests and priorities for the forthcoming brands, as well as needs for the economic development website. Throughout these discussions, one thing emerged as clear: Vaughan is the place to be and a place in motion.
Goals:
Engage and unify stakeholders in an approach to branding four of the City’s entities
Conceptualize and design eye-catching brand identities for the City’s four entities
Develop a streamlined website with filterable resources and data visualization
V is for Vibrant
Full of vibrancy and movement, CT’s designers created a series of logos that mirror constant, fast-paced – yet deeply purposeful – evolution. Their energetic colour palettes celebrate continuous improvement, forward-thinking growth, while their ‘V’ shapes were designed to complement the City’s overarching corporate brand. The Economic and Cultural Development brand, in particular, is further showcased throughout a streamlined and user-friendly WordPress website.
Data: Visualized
Largely catered to businesses and investors, selling the City by the facts and figures was a top priority throughout the creation of the Economic and Cultural Development website.
