Creating a more connected, accessible, and inspiring online experience for Canada’s leading heritage conservation organization.
The places that harbour Canada’s heritage deserve a digital experience that invites people to discover, value, and help protect them. That’s why Cinnamon Toast is partnering with the National Trust for Canada to redesign its organizational website, creating a more connected, accessible, and engaging platform that reflects its national leadership in heritage conservation.
For more than 50 years, the National Trust for Canada has championed the places that define Canada’s shared history. Through advocacy, programming, funding, and education, the organization works to ensure heritage places remain vibrant parts of our communities — not simply reminders of the past, but catalysts for stronger futures.
Honouring the Past While Designing for the Future
As the Trust’s work has evolved, so has its digital presence. Multiple websites (both live and archived), expanding programs, and years of incremental growth have created an online experience that no longer reflects the organization or the audiences it serves.
Our work will bring these digital experiences together into a single, cohesive platform that makes it easier for members, donors, heritage professionals, government partners, and engaged Canadians to explore resources, participate in programs, and support the conservation of Canada’s historic places.
Grounded in user research, content strategy, and thoughtful information architecture, the new website will simplify user journeys, creating intuitive pathways that encourage exploration, engagement, and action.
Turning Interest Into Action
A great heritage website should spark curiosity, deepen understanding, and inspire participation.
The new platform will aim to:
- Unify the National Trust’s digital ecosystem into one unified experience
- Make heritage resources and programs easier to discover and navigate
- Strengthen storytelling through compelling content and immersive visuals
- Support donations, memberships, events, and advocacy through intuitive user journeys
- Provide a flexible, accessible, and future-ready platform that empowers staff and serves audiences across Canada
By bringing strategy, storytelling, and technology together, this project will help the National Trust create a digital experience that honours Canada’s heritage while inviting more people to play a role in its future. We’re looking forward to helping shape that next chapter.
