In partnership with Cinnamon Toast, Russell Public Library opened a new chapter by launching its refreshed brand.
With a growing community, a new Embrun branch on the horizon, and a brand that had remained largely unchanged since 2012, the Library saw an opportunity to better reflect its identity, impact, and ambitions for the future.
Rooted in research and guided by community insight, Cinnamon Toast created a brand that captures the Library’s role as a welcoming community hub; a place of discovery, connection, and lifelong learning that extends far beyond the Library itself.
Looking Beyond the Bookshelves
While the Library is known and loved for its collection, research and engagement revealed that many residents were unaware of the full breadth of programs, services, and community supports available to them.
Through surveys, workshops, and strategic analysis, a clear story emerged: the Library is much more than a place to borrow books. It is a gathering space to learn, connect, create, and grow.
A Brand Rooted in Discovery
At the heart of the new brand is a simple idea: exploration begins when people feel welcome enough to discover something new. The new tagline, Where Exploration Takes Root, reflects the Library’s role as a place where curiosity grows into confidence, learning becomes connection, and community members of all ages can discover something new about the world.
Inspired by the warmth, beauty, and community spirit that emerged throughout the engagement process, the brand was designed to feel welcoming, inclusive, and deeply rooted in the people it serves. It balances the Library’s longstanding role as a trusted community gathering place with its evolving future as a hub for learning, creativity, technology, and connection.
The Next Chapter
Together, these elements create a flexible foundation that can grow with the Library as it welcomes new audiences, expands services, and prepares for the opening of its new Embrun branch.
With a renewed identity rooted in warmth, community, and discovery, the Library is ready to welcome visitors — new and familiar — to explore what comes next.
