Known around the world for its breathtaking natural wonder, Niagara Falls faced a key challenge at the outset of this project: global recognition that overshadowed its local identity. While millions visit each year, residents wanted a brand that better reflects their lived experience, rooted in community, history, and pride.
To bridge this gap, the City partnered with Cinnamon Toast to develop a refreshed brand identity, bringing clarity and cohesion to a place defined by both international appeal and a close-knit community spirit.

Our Approach
To ground the brand in authentic community insight, we engaged residents through a digital survey, one-on-one interviews, and an open house. These conversations revealed a deep appreciation for the city’s natural beauty, a strong sense of history, and a desire for a brand that feels both welcoming and distinctly Canadian.
These insights shaped every aspect of the creative direction, from visual identity to a comprehensive brand framework including a brand story, positioning statement, and manifesto.
Making Waves with a New Identity
The resulting logo captures the movement and energy of Niagara Falls through clean, flowing lines that echo the water's rhythm. A rich blue palette conveys depth, vitality, and growth, while layered aqua tones add vibrancy and life. Grounded by strong, confident typography and accented with a subtle maple leaf, the design balances natural beauty with civic pride, resulting in a timeless mark that is both adaptable and instantly recognizable.
