Celebrating unity
In January 1973, the Province of Ontario amalgamated the communities of Preston, Galt, Hespeler and Blair to form the City of Cambridge. Located along the Grand River in the Regional Municipality of Waterloo, Cambridge is a stand-out municipality rich in history, culture, and natural beauty.
As the City of Cambridge emerges into its 50th anniversary, there’s never been a better time to celebrate the stories, growth, and meaningful work accomplished to build Cambridge as an exceptional community.
Goals:
Conduct stakeholder engagement with City officials and community-led groups.
Create an integrated campaign strategy to generate civic engagement and boost community vitality and ambassadorship.
Align with the City’s latest strategic and overarching communications plans.
Bridging Community Since 1973
The voices and experiences of those who know Cambridge best inspired this anniversary tagline. Not only did we aim to highlight the milestone event with the tag, but it was also chosen to pay tribute to the communities that merged to form Cambridge.
Invitation by Design
We designed an anniversary visual identity featuring modernized depictions of notable landmarks throughout Galt, Preston, Hespeler, and Blair. We understood the historical significance of the former municipalities’ build, natural environments, and heritage as key sources of pride among residents and City officials.
As community and group leaders were eager to “paint the City” for the 50th anniversary, we ensured the identity was scalable and applicable. We applied the anniversary design across digital and traditional channels, including social media, landing pages, streetlight banners, postcard handouts, and much more.
