The City of Hamilton stands firmly upon a history of hard labour and true grit. With a horizon punctuated by steel mills that run parallel to a beautiful escarpment, bold contrasts are customary here, attracting 4.5 million visits each year.
With the growth of Hamilton’s unemployment rate, tourism’s role in both job creation and visitor influx was — and still is — of increasing importance. As such, Tourism Hamilton required a brand identity and website that would raise the profile of the city by way of the unique visitor experiences which set it apart.
Goals:
Capture the essence of Hamilton in a unique and eye-catching brand identity
Position the city as unpretentious, unapologetically gritty, and unexpectedly beautiful
Develop a user-friendly website that highlights the city’s tourism assets and offerings
Listen Closer
With contrasts ranging from pretty and gritty to historic and trendy; old and new to urban and rural, CT designed a logo whose left half hints the natural, more organic elements of the city, while the right hints the city’s more urban elements. A series of vibrant and unexpected colours were pulled in and pulled across a “Pinterest-esque” website design, which was built on WordPress to prioritize ease-of-use.
